I pruned our catmint plants and dumped the trimmings in the barn for the cats. Columbus (the explorer) had his fill and then plopped down in the middle of the pile - a wee bit tipsy.

Turbo in Laundry Bin - February 27, 2010

One of the laundry bin doors was left open, so Turbo decided to jump up into it and explore. When Lynn came back out to do a load of wash, Turbo watched her from his perch.

Columbus and Turbo in New Window Box - February 6, 2010

I built a new window box for Columbus and Turbo. As you can see they are very happy with it. They have a front row seat for all the bird activity outside our laundry room window.

Turbo and Columbus Snuggled Together - January 2, 2010

Our barn cats were looking extremely cold in the barn the other day when the temperature was 10F and the wind was blowing 25MPH. We brought them into our mudroom to warm up. They decided these accommodations are very nice and show no desire to go back outside. Turbo on the right, Columbus on the left snuggled in their box on a fleece with a heat reflective lining.

Meet Samson, my daughter's 14 year old cat. He doesn't get around very quickly anymore, but loves to bask in the sun and wishes he were still agile enough to chase the birds.

Turbo on Tractor Seat - October 18, 2009

Turbo was watching me split wood for his perch on the tractor seat. He follows Lynn and I around wherever we go just like our dog Coby.

Turbo Lounging on Sofa - July 19, 2009

This is Columbus' brother Turbo, named for his turbo-charged purr motor. He hangs out by our barn while his brother goes off exploring. He likes to lay upside down in your arms while you rub his belly.

Columbus Curled Up on Sofa - July 19, 2009

This is Columbus, one of our two new "barn" cats. We adopted him and his brother Turbo when the farm where they used to stay was sold and they needed a new home. He was named Columbus because he likes to explore everything. He is the first one out and about in the morning and the last one in at night.
