While visiting relatives in Maine, we stopped at the harbor in Belfast, Maine looking for water birds. There were 2 dozen Double-Crested Cormorants perched on a distant boat dock grooming and air drying their wings. To our pleasant surprise, one popped up right in front of us by the pier.
There were alot of Double-crested Cormorants perched on protuding rocks in Monterey Bay, California. This guy had just finished fishing and was air drying his wings, a common behavior of cormorants.
