This adult Herring Gull was perched on the stone pier near where all the Sea Lions were lounging.  He was very tame and let me get real close for this shot.

I was practicing getting in-flight shots of gulls.  This adult herring gull offered me lots of opportunity as he soared up and down the beach above the surf.

This photo was taken in Virginia Beach by a boat dock area.  The second year plummage on this herring gull is much different from the adult plummage.
