Male Dark-eyed Junco - Oregon Subspecies Print E-mail

The male Dark-eyed Oregon Junco has a black face, different from the lighter colored female.  This was one of about 8 juncos that visited regularly while I was at my daughter's place in Monterey, Ca.

The Dark-eyed Junco Oregon subspecies is found on the U.S. west coast. This female was in my daughter's backyard in Monterey, Ca. She has lighter coloring than the male; very different from the slate-colored eastern variety.
