This serviceberry tree is one our female red-bellied woodpecker's favorite approach perches. She can scan the entire front yard before coming in further to the suet feeder.
This dove pair was so cute all huddled together napping in the fresh snow. They are very territorial when eating, but settle in together between meals.
The cardinals are not phased by blowing snow. They show up very predictably to tank up as a strom rolls in. This male immeditely caught my attention as he landed in this tree.
24 pine siskins landed in one of our front yard trees on a snowy morning last week. I was able to get these two females together. Their favorite seed is thistle and they gather up the finely crushed egg shells that we put out.
I usually do not notice that a hummingbird has stuck it's sipper out until I am editing the photo because it happens so fast. This female may have been savoring the nectar from the hosta blossoms she had just visited.
After making a run at our feeder area, this male sharp-shinned hawk perched in our front yard. He scanned the area for about 5 minutes, scratched his ear several times, and alternated standing on one foot in the cold weather. The male sharp-shinned is significantly smaller than the female that we have seen before.

This photo is in a slideshow, but was never posted in Cardinals. We put our Christmas tree outside each year after new years. I sprinkle seeds in it to attract the birds. The cardinals are particularly attracted to the safflower seeds.
This photo is in a slideshow, but I never posted it under Cardinals. This male cardinal flew into an 18" snow bank during a blizzard. He was enjoying a sunflower seed that he had grabbed from the feeder platform.
