This large rabbit was living dangerously by crossing our backyard in broad daylight. He managed to avoid our cat, dog and the ever present hawks watching from the edge of the woods.
Yesterday this young red fox was napping under our horse trailer in our barnyard. Our cat, Phantom, took exception to that and attacked it. After a brief fierce tangle they separated. It was back out front by the road again this morning. I hope it has sense enough to stay away from our inner yard now. It does seem any worse for the wear.
Here is a full side view of the young red fox that was wandering around our front yard yesterday afternoon. It went back and forth across the road several times as if it wasn't sure about being too far from the cover of the woods.
Right after getting home from being away for a week, one of the first things I saw in our backyard was this chipmunk. He had grabbed a clump of cranberries and was happily munching away at it.
We are in trouble now. We've been here for 8 years and have only ever had one squirrel visit us at a time. Today, this one brought a friend to feast on sunflower seeds.
