This female Common Whitetail dragonfly was sunning herself on a gravel patch. Females lay their eggs while flying by tapping the tip of their abdomen on the surface of water. I saw her doing this a few minutes after I took this photo. Her motion was way too fast for me to get a shot of that behavior.</p>
