Immature Royal Terns Taking Off - November 8, 2018

I was hoping to see the Royal Terns on the beach at Chincoteague National Wildlife Preserve for the 3rd year in a row, and I was not disappointed. There were about 30 immature Royal Terns (partial black crest) in 3 groups spread out along the beach surf line. Royal Terns are about the same size as a Crow, but their wingspan is 42-44 inches, longer than 33-40 inches for a Crow.
